One kopiika is the 100th part of the monetary unit of Ukraine, the hryvnia.
The 10- and 50-kopiika coins are the circulation coins used in Ukraine today.
On 1 October 2025, the NBU started to gradually withdraw 10-kopiika coins from circulation. They are still legal tender.
Small-denomination 1-, 2, 5-, 10-, 25-, and 50-kopiika coins were put into circulation on 2 September 1996. The NBU withdrew from circulation:
- 1-, 2-, and 5-kopiika coins on 1 October 2019 and
- 25-kopiika coins on 1 October 2020.
